Mr. Uenking has been a Physics teacher at Bayside High School since 2005. He is certified by the College Board to teach AP Physics C Mechanics (Calculus-based). He is also one of the Health Sciences Academy Instructors who teaches Physics as it pertains to the human body. Mr. Uenking possesses a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, a Master of Engineering in Engineering Mechanics, a Master of Business Administration in Technology Management, and a Master of Education in Secondary Education. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in General Psychology with an emphasis in Educational Psychology. He is a member of the National Science Teachers Association, Virginia Association of Science Teachers, Phi Delta Kappa, Kappa Delta Pi, Discovery Educators Network, AIAA Educator Associate, Solar System Educator, VHSL, NFHS, and a member of the Virginia Professional Educators. He currently serves Bayside High School as a member of the Guidance Advisory Council, the BHS webmaster, assistant director to the marching band and pit percussion instructor, scholarship committee, school planning council, physics curriculum revisions committee, and the debate team coach. Recently Mr. Uenking has been selected by the National Science Teachers Association to be an Amgen Associate Fellow which will him afford numerous opportunities to gain professional development and atttend the National Conference in Boston in March 2008.
He currently lives in Newport News, VA with his wife, Rebecca, and his two children, Mary Ashleigh and Matthew. He is a local product of the Virginia Beach City Public Schools system having been a 1984 graduate from Princess Anne High School. His personal quote is the following:
